Exhibition QSPA Bispevika, Oslo
April 24 to August 24, 2025
Queen Sonja Print Award presents the exhibition Project: Lofoten, an artistic collaboration between Queen Sonja and Lars Lerin, developed in support of printmaking and the foundation.
The exhibition showcases graphic prints featuring motifs from the northern Norwegian landscape, hand-coloured by Lars Lerin. The works are the result of a close collaboration, and several of the pieces are signed by both artists.
Queen Sonja has worked with printmaking for many years, often drawing inspiration from nature and landscapes, including those of Northern Norway. Throughout much of his career, Lars Lerin has turned his gaze towards Lofoten, where the region’s shifting light and weather have left a profound mark on his artistic practice. Together, they have explored the visual rhythms of nature, creating works that unite two distinct artistic expressions in one poetic interpretation.
The title of the exhibition, Project: Lofoten, refers both to the specific geographical location and to the shared artistic project. It is a tribute to the landscape of the North and to the possibilities of printmaking for collaboration, interpretation, and mutual inspiration.
ABOUT
The Queen Sonja Print Award is the world’s leading award for graphic art, and a means to celebrate the art of printmaking, by honoring artists and supporting great talent. It is The Queen’s sincere wish that the award will support and inspire ambitious artists to establish themselves on the international art scene.
Three awards - the Queen Sonja Print Award, the QSPA Inspirational Award and the QSPA Lifetime Achievement Award - are presented every other year by the HM Queen Sonja Art Foundation, which was established in 2011 to generate interest in and promote the development of graphic art. The awards celebrate the excellence of artists at various stages in their career.
About
The Queen Sonja Print Award also contributes to making graphic art more available to the public. The opening of the QSPA exhibition space in 2021 was an important step towards raising general interest in graphic art.
